Our History and Name

It is entirely beyond us and above us. We are simply meant to look at it with wonder, with awe and with worship, and be amazed by it.

- Martyn Lloyd-Jones, on the doctrine of the Trinity

The historically orthodox Christian church has always affirmed the trinity | Trinity Church of Loudoun

In the summer of 2017, Matt Felton and his family moved from Oklahoma to Virginia in preparation to plant a church outside Washington DC. David Chung joined later that summer, and together with the Watson family they began praying and planning for God to use them to start a local church in the area.

Several months later, they began hosting interest meetings and Bible studies in and around Ashburn to gather believers with the vision of beginning a church there. And in June 2018, sharing a trust in God's Word and His gospel, 39 members covenanted together with the Lord's Supper to form Trinity Church of Loudoun.

In our name, we hoped to capture something significant about our intentions: namely, our continuity with Christians & churches across the ages. The Trinity was one of the earliest & most precious doctrines that the Church defined & defended from the Bible, and it became a key barometer of orthodoxy.

Who confessed the Trinity? Christians did, and eventually Christians of various denominations. Trinity Church of Loudoun is a new church, but in far more important ways, there’s nothing new about us at all. We hope to confess & gather under truths that have been believed & adored for thousands of years.
